Tallow is pure, nutrient-rich beef fat that’s carefully rendered to separate the fat from any traces of meat, water, and tissue. This gentle, slow process creates a clean, smooth fat that’s perfect for both cooking and skincare, preserving all the natural goodness it offers.

At Ancient Remedy, we go a step further. Our tallow is rendered slowly in kettles, creating a product of unmatched quality. Sourced from grass-fed and finished, regenerative farms, our tallow is as pure as it gets—and there's nothing else like it.

Since beef tallow’s composition is very similar to our skin’s natural oils, it absorbs easily and starts working fast.

To apply, just a small amount—a pea-sized dab—is enough for your face or any area of your body. Unlike a water-based cream, tallow is highly concentrated, so a little goes a long way. If you apply too much, you might find your skin feels oily at first—common for beginners! In that case, simply blot the excess with a tissue.

For areas where skin is thicker or drier, like your feet, hands, or elbows, feel free to use a bit more for deep hydration.

Suet tallow stands out from regular tallow due to its higher purity and richer nutrient profile. Sourced from the fat around the kidneys and loins, it’s packed with essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K, making it especially beneficial for skincare. Suet tallow absorbs more easily into the skin, providing deeper hydration and helping to restore the skin's natural barrier. It’s also more stable at high temperatures, making it ideal for both cooking and long-lasting skincare applications, offering superior nourishment and effectiveness.

Tallow doesn’t require cooling, but if you store it in the fridge, keep in mind that temperature fluctuations can change the texture of the moisturizer. Refrigeration will considerably harden the tallow, making it less smooth to apply. For the best consistency and effectiveness, we suggest storing it in a dry spot between 10-18°C. Avoid storing tallow in the bathroom, as temperature fluctuations there can affect its texture and overall quality.

Our tallow undergoes three purification steps to remove any impurities that could cause a beef smell, ensuring a clean, odorless cream. While the cream is scent-free, it’s important to keep in mind that, as with any natural product, there may be slight variations in texture or scent. We recommend an open mind when using it, as natural ingredients can sometimes have subtle, unique qualities.

The skin on your body and face is the same—it just varies in thickness depending on the area. That's why you can use the same cream for both. Labels like day cream, night cream, or hand cream are simply marketing tactics designed to sell more products. Our Balm is made to meet the needs of all skin types, whether your skin is dry, cracked, rough, sensitive, normal, or even oily, making it perfect for both face and body.

Across all continents, ancient cultures—such as the Babylonians, Egyptians, Aboriginal Australians, Inuits, Himba and Hamer tribes, and Native Americans—have long revered animal fats. The difference between our moisturizer and regular cooking beef tallow lies in the refinement process. Our tallow is deodorized, refined, purified, and whipped to create the ideal texture for skincare. This ensures it's free from impurities and has a smooth, non-greasy finish for the skin. In contrast, cooking beef tallow may not go through these additional steps, which means it may retain stronger smells and a heavier texture that's better suited for cooking, not skincare.

We don’t use synthetic perfumes or fragrance oils in our products. Synthetic fragrances can trigger allergic reactions, which is why we only use natural essential oils derived from flowers and herbs. This ensures that Ancient Remedy products are 100% natural.

Our beef tallow comes primarily from a pasture farm in Belgium, sourced from Bleu Blanc Belge cattle. These cattle are grass-fed and raised without corn, soy, or wheat. From April to October, they graze on natural pastures, and in winter, they have access to spacious straw stalls with an open-air outlet, ensuring they live in a healthy and ethical environment.

Not at all! Whipping tallow simply creates a lighter, fluffier texture, making it easier to apply, without altering its natural nutrients or powerful benefits.
